Broadway House Chambers has been at the forefront of the legal profession in the North of England for over 80 years. The set seeks to challenge stereotypes about barristers, being proud of its history whilst striving to offer a distinctive, innovative approach to the provision of legal services.
Since 2010 Broadway House Chambers has been recognised by the Legal 500 UK as Top Tier set - the highest accolade a Chambers can achieve - and in 2013 our barristers were described as "uniformly excellent". Sustained success in recent decades has been built upon recruiting talented, ambitious individuals and by concentrating on delivering excellence in advocacy and representation.
The set consists of 7 QCs and 55 barristers, each of whom belong to 6 dedicated practice teams: Criminal Law, Family Law, Employment Law, Civil & Commercial Law, and Regulation & Judicial Review.
We designed a site that introduced practice area colour coding. We featured iconic imagery of Leeds and Bradford to give the set a clear sense of geography and location. We wanted white to feature in the site- to reflect the White Rose of York, a heraldic rose that began life as the symbol of the House of York and in recent times has been adopted as a symbol for Yorkshire as a whole. The design inspiration for the site came from the humble business card and we kept the layout simple but effective.
The lack of bluster or legalese was reflective of a set whose barristers, while being hugely intelligent and effective are refreshingly down to earth.
